No. 1 Lager

Clear, bright and pale straw colour with a lively head, this classic and easy drinking Lager has a slightly sweet fruitiness with a subtle malt finish. This Lager is medium bodied with a delicate bitterness, showing a refined, honest approach to a South African favourite.

History: The name ‘Lager’ is a German word which means ‘storage’ in English. From about the 16th/17th century the Bavarian monastaries stored their beers in underground cellars in which the colder temperatures allowed the beer to brew much longer and improved the quality.

Alcohol: Table 58 Brewing No. 1 Lager is brewed for up to 4 weeks and the alcohol content is 4,5%.

T58 Lager is brewed, like all our beers, in accordance with the German Purity Law which dates back to the year 1516 and which states that the only raw materials allowed are malt, hops, yeast and water.

We use the best national and international raw materials available in our quest for excellence.

No. 2 Weizen

Easily recognisable but never overpowering, this Weizen offers an intricate balance between fruity banana esters and clove aromas, creating a medium bodied beer with an aromatic nose and finish. Geat for lazy summer lounging or warm fire-place snuggling. Our Weizen is softly spiced, sweetly malted and characteristically carbonated.

History: Weizen is a wheat beer. It can be said that wheat eer is the oldest style still in existence today.

Alcohol: Table 58 Brewing No. 2 Weizen (wheat beer) is not a lager beer as it uses a top fermentation yeast and its lagering (storage) is somewhat lesser than for lager beer. The alcohol content is 4.0%.

Weizen beer is made with a substantial portion of wheat in addition to the normal malt. Our Weizen is characterized by a thirst quenching taste which comes from the type of yeast used for fermentation.

Our raw materials, like hops and malt, are carefully selected in order to achieve the highest quality in our quest for excellence.

No. 3 Pilsner

A firm favourite, this crisp and delicious German Pilsner pours a light bodied, golden colour with a dry finish and dissipating bitterness. Our Pilsner is thirst-quenching and clean, with understated citrus fragrances imparted by its noble hop additions, distinctively layered but very drinkable.

History: In the last 19th century, when beers were dark and cloudy, a newly founded brewery in Pilsner (Czech Republic) produced a beer that was golden and clear for the first time. Pilsner became a ‘trade’ name used all over the world.

Alcohol: Table 58 Brewing No. 3 Pilsner is brewed for up to 5 weeks to achieve the best possible Pilsner beer and the alcohol content is 4,2%.

A true Pilsner type beer has a good soft malt chracter and a balanced dryness with a noticeable degree of both bitterness and late hopping to impart the hop aromas.

Our raw materials, like hops and malt, are carefully selected in order to achieve the highest quality in our quest for excellence.

No. 4 Porter

This beer has its roots in history but its feet firmly in the present and pours with a dark creamy head. Hints of chocolate on the nose gives way to secondary roasted biscuit aromas and an easy hop chracter, which is echoed in the ever so slightly toasted, sweet finish. Grab a pint, move closer to the fire and enjoy this fuller bodied, well tailored Porter.

History: Porter was first brewed in London in the 1700’s. The name ‘Porter’ came from this new beers popularity with the porters who worked at local markets and delivered beer to pubs.

Alcohol: Table 58 Brewing No. 4 Porter is brewed for up to 5 weeks to achieve the best possible Porter beer and the alcohol content is 4,8%.

Porter’s are hard to beat for their sheer versatility, offering sturdiness on the one hand and drinkability on the other. Brown beers are well brewed, with more hops and are aged for longer.

Our raw materials, like hops and malt, are carefully selected in order to achieve the highest quality in our quest for excellence.

No. 5 IPA

Settle back and relax… T58 IPA is true to form and style while providing a refreshing, well balanced ale – ideally matched with lazy summer afternoons. Crystal clear, easy drinking with hints of passion fruit and citrus, you’ll relish our take on this classic and characterful brew.

History: So what is IPA? The initials stand for ‘India Pale Ale’. It was the answer to providing beer for the British Empire in the East. It was too hot to brew in India, so in the 1780’s a London brewer, Hodgson, sent out a strong, heavily hopped beer called October Ale that would normally be aged like wine before drinking. The beer not only survived the journey of 6 months but was found to have improved immeasurably. This was the prototype for IPA.

Alcohol: Table 58 BrewingNo. 5 IPA is brewed for up to 4 weeks and the alcohol content is 6.0%.

T58 IPA is brewed, like all out beers, in accordance with the German Purity Law which dates back to the year 1516 and which states that the only raw materials allowed are malt, hops, yeast and water.
